Throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic governments across England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, have published sector-specific guidance to aid employers, employees and the self-employed understand how to work safely and to ensure workplaces are as safe as they can be for staff.

It is important to study the most relevant guidance for your business and implement and apply the measures required.

HEALTH AND SAFETY LEGISLATION

 
Through the COVID-19 pandemic many businesses have been forced to close, but this hasn’t meant that Health & Safety measures have been changed. In fact some areas of Health and safety legislation have been expanded to cover the COVID-19 pandemic.

A summary of these is below:

  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002
  • IPersonal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992
  • Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
  • Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR)
  • Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1977 & Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996
